The Fret-King Atelier Model Perception 60 JJ Bass in California Green has been hand-built under Trevor Wilkinson’s personal supervision, in the UK Fret-King workshops to painstaking, faultless standards of perfection.

Since the 1960s, colour-matched headstocks have been ultra cool. There's just something about them that looks... right. With that in mind, we decided to pay homage to that with this amazing, one-off Atelier Perception.

Resplendent in custom option California Green the Perception's vibe is perfectly complemented by the super-cool and exclusive red tortoiseshell pick guard.
In the sound department, the bass brings together the best features of the two most successful bass concepts of our time, to give great sound and stability under the most extreme playing styles.

Constructed from carefully selected swamp ash, with optimal weight and density, the erception's body is designed for perfect balance and comfort.
The wide, slim profile, hard rock maple neck and thin rosewood fingerboard add to the subtlety of the Perception's tonal palette and provide a feel of reassuring familiarity, akin to slipping on an old kid glove. 

Attention to detail with the hardware includes authentic ‘elephant ear’ style tuners, a Wilkinson WB2P original style bridge with two fully adjustable brass saddles, which transmit all of the string energy to the body.
 A single string tree and low friction, high density Wilkaloid nut contribute to the overall positive feel and tone of the Perception.

The Fret-King vintage-voiced Alnico V custom pickups, dual volume controls and master tone control imbue the Perception with a breadth of timbre which covers the needs of the most discerning studio and live performance bass player – from silky, mellifluous jazz tones, to classic funk, to an edgy and assertive rock tone, all is within range.
